Salt air from the Atlantic is relentless on unprotected paint. Parked near the beach at Vale do Lobo or driven on the coastal roads, a car picks up chemical residue that accelerates oxidation of the clear coat. A properly applied ceramic coating creates a durable barrier — and our studio is on Estrada de Vale do Lobo.
Vale do Lobo is built around the clifftop and beachfront. The prevailing south-westerly Atlantic winds carry salt particles inland, and even cars parked well back from the beach accumulate residue over time. Combined with UV radiation at Algarve latitudes — among the highest in mainland Europe — unprotected clear coat degrades faster here than most owners expect based on previous experience in more northerly climates.
Ceramic coating creates a chemical barrier between the environment and the paint. The hydrophobic surface causes salt water and contaminants to bead off rather than bond. It reduces the rate of UV oxidation and keeps the gloss sharper for longer between washes.
We offer three honest ceramic tiers. The €1,000 package covers an exterior polish and entry-level ceramic application — suited for cars in good current condition. The €1,500 package — our most popular — adds interior cleaning, a higher-performing ceramic product, and an A/C recharge on request. The €2,000 package extends to glass and wheel ceramic coating in addition to the full exterior and interior preparation.
For a car based in Vale do Lobo, the glass coating in the top package is particularly useful: glass coated with ceramic beads water dramatically better and improves visibility in sea spray and light rain.
Price is confirmed after we inspect the paint. Ceramic applied over poor or damaged clear coat performs worse and looks worse — we correct before we coat, or explain honestly when correction is what the car actually needs.
If the clear coat already has swirl marks, oxidation or holograms, coating over them locks them in permanently. We offer paint correction separately — from €250 for a refresh to €1,000 for a full multi-stage correction — and will assess the need when we see the car.
